The Skinny on Weight Watchers

weight watchers by personal trainer torontoMy friends and clients have used Weight Watchers to reach their diet and weight loss goals. All of them have raved over the success of their programs.

Weight Watchers has been around for a while. The company was founded in 1963 by Brooklyn homemaker Jean Nidetch.

The way it works, is participants are encouraged to select a goal BMI in a healthy range of 20-25. Once a member reaches their goal they become a "lifetime member" and are allowed access to group meeting for free as long as they weigh in monthly and maintain their goal weight.

Weight watchers also offers online support for those of us that like the approach but don't want to attend meetings or lose weight in a group setting.

What I really like about Weight Watchers is their point system. Based on your height, weight, age, gender and activity level, you are given an amount of "points to eat" based on the amount of calories, fat and fiber in certain foods. This diet design makes a nutrition program easy to follow. Basically, just stay within your allowed points! There are also activity points that will award you more food points throughout the day, to encourage exercise as well as a sound diet plan.

Sounds like a fun way to get in shape and stay healthy.

Different things will work for different people. If you have had trouble losing weight or keeping it off, try something like Weight Watchers, a tried and true approach for 45 years!

Try It!
