The Worst Dieting Mistakes!

Three worst dieting mistakes by personal trainer toronto

Let me start by saying that I even hate the word diet! If you are "dieting" then you are already doing it wrong. Healthy eating is a lifestyle but it doesn't mean you're always eating healthily. I take great satisfaction in the looks of horror that people give me when I'm on my second cookie and they're looking at the desserts longingly while nibbling on celery. Hey, I work hard, eat healthy 90% of the time and like to indulge.

Anyway, I've noticed some serious "dieting" mistakes and heck, I've made these ones too:

The Top Three Dieting Mistakes

1. Not Indulging

I'll keep this point simple. If you're not enjoying your food, what's the point? Is skinny more important than happiness? Really, think about it...

2. Saving Calories (for later)

I'm guilty of this one. I used to skip a meal or eat less if I knew I was going to a party where I was likely to indulge. The better strategy is to eat a big, satisfying meal beforehand and you know what? Those chips and sweets don't look nearly as appetizing when you are already full on healthy, wholesome food.

3. Mindless Eating

NEVER eat when you are busy on the computer or on the phone. I don't necessarily mean eat in complete and utter silence. I like watching TV with dinner but I'm also mindful of the fact that I'm eating.

When you are feeling emotional because there's so much work to do and you're hammering away on the keyboard chances are, you're going to eat a lot more than is required, before feeling satiated.

Those are some of the worst offending mistakes when you are trying to change your lifestyle and habits. Work on these and the rest of your "weaknesses" will seem like less of a challenge to manage. I promise...
